Writing History

triplegangers.com is BACK!

To roll in the New Year, 2014 IR has re-launched triplegangers.com the first ever 3D store of it’s type to sell 360° photogrammetry scans.
The original triplegangers store was launched back in 2010, which was the replacement for ir-models that launched back in 2008, which also sold 3d scans and 3d digital models.

We’ve since been hard at work processing and converting 100’s of scans of human subjects to fill up the store, from full body poses to scaled, aligned and tracked FACS scans.

Due to such high demand from clients and customers all over the world, we wanted to be able to cater to a higher quality than other similar photogrammetry systems that have since copied IR’s  system design. This will make available scans that have been captured with either the 120x 18MP DSLR full body system or the ‘dedicated’ 48x 19MP DSLR face capture system available to everyone. We are also selling our older 80x 18MP DSLR full body scans captured in 2012.

IR has since licensed out the system to other developers who are using it for their own ‘varied’ projects.

Most of the 3D scanning photogrammetry systems you see on the market today (that mainly specialize in 3D printing) originated from IR’s design or consultancy. Either directly or indirectly. Such as TwinKind, Captured Dimensions, Faberlounge, Duplicity, xxArray or FBFX’s system, plus many more to come in 2014.

If you are a developer of Virtual Reality content, this type of data is ideal to develop with. The scans look INCREDIBLE in stereo VR, very much like the real thing, very life like. In VR you feel the presence of the tripleganger, it’s very unnerving but also quite exhilarating. Think Madame Tussauds but less waxy!

The press say that 2013 was the year of 3D printing, it was actually the year of 3D Photogrammetry, even though IR solved it first, in 2011.

IR is the origin.

Here are some example scan sets available today

(Most of the scans were captured in 2011/2012)

These are pieces of history, that you can own today (some may contain mild nudity):

triplegangers® is a registered trademark of Infinite-Realities. triplegangers means the 3rd, the other, the digital triplicate.

The new store looks great, unfortunately it’s still a bit buggy and I couldn’t purchase one of the RAW scans (The terms and conditions button doesn’t work)
I’ll check back later as I’m interested in working with the raw data.
Keep it up, it’s all good.

Thanks Garry. Yes it does work, you have to make sure you read The terms and conditions thoroughly, scroll to the end, then click Accept.

Got it now, it’s an IE bug, doesn’t do it in firefox.

IE = ahhhh the devils spawn!!

Glad it works. I should put a Firefox or Chrome only suggestion tag on the site.

Can the content sold on Triplegangers somehow be imported into a program that works with the Oculus Rift?

From the agreement I signed when I bought one of your scans, I assume that once I get it working in the Rift, I am not allowed to post it online, even if I credit the material to Infinite Realities?

Jeremy, flag up the part of the agreement you’re concerned about and I will take a look. As long as you are not selling the demo, otherwise you should buy a commercial license.

I wouldn’t be selling it. Just playing around and wanted some inspiring content. :)

First off, great work! Very impressive idea as well as execution. I would like to know, how easy/hard is it to get a model to do this? There’s a few I know off the top off my head which will definitely boost sales.

Thanks! They have to be comfortable with their bodies. I guess it depends on who you have in mind? and how much they cost!

Well I don’t them them personally, is it expensive? I mean, I would hope all parties see the benefits that could be had. But then, I have no experience in these matters

Yes it can be expensive, they can sometimes be difficult to source and they have to sign complex and robust model release forms and be happy with usage.

I’d say start with these 2:
Though the next 10-/11 wouldn’t hurt haha

Good choice no doubt SUPER expensive :) (plus flights!)

Well if you did make that happen, you could have all my money, TODAY. Sadly, I doubt that will be enough to fund such an idea.
